Thank you to all who reached out to their local Congressman below is an update regarding the Fire Act Grant Reauthorization. The Fire Act Grant has provided the funding for our training platform.

From Congressional Fire Service Institute:

A quick update on AFG/SAFER reauthorization – later today, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 4661, the United States Fire Administration, AFG, and SAFER Program Reauthorization Act of 2017.

The bill reauthorizes the Assistance to Firefighters, Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response, and Fire Prevention and Safety grant programs for six years. The bill also reauthorizes the United States Fire Administration for six years. Unfortunately, the bill includes a “sunset” provision that will eliminate the grants after seven years if Congress fails to reauthorize them in the future, but we can fight that battle another day. All of the technical corrections that we requested, and the Senate approved in S. 829, are included in H.R. 4661.

The House passed H.R. 4661 by voice vote this evening. The Senate will now take up the bill.

Thanks again for those who made a call.
